What we do
Our programs & focus areas
Comprehensive humanitarian programming that responds to urgent needs while strengthening longer-term resilience across Somalia.

WASH
Improving access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene for vulnerable communities across displacement-affected and drought-prone areas.

Health
Community-based health services, screening, and referrals so vulnerable families—especially women and young children—can access timely care in hard-to-reach locations.

Nutrition
Preventing and treating acute malnutrition while building caregiver skills for early detection and improved infant and young child feeding.

Shelter/NFI
Emergency shelter materials and essential non-food items that restore protection from weather, improve privacy, and support dignity after displacement.

Education
Keeping children and youth learning through formal support, non-formal pathways, and emergency-adapted approaches where insecurity or displacement interrupts schooling.

Protection
Safety, dignity, and rights-sensitive support—including awareness, psychosocial first aid orientation, referral facilitation, and advocacy—for people at heightened risk.

Peacebuilding
Local dialogue, mediation support, and inclusion of women and youth in reconciliation processes that reduce recurrent communal tensions.

Thematic portfolio emphasis
These indices show relative programmatic weight across sectors—in line with assessments and donor frameworks—not cumulative beneficiaries or historical trend lines.
Why not call this “growth”?
Year-over-year graphics belong next to audited outcomes data. We label this view plainly so visitors interpret percentages as planning emphasis, not implied growth rates.
Figures are illustrative composite indicators for external communication; verified statistics appear in formal reports and donor submissions.
Testimonials
Voices from Somali communities we serve
Hear from families and neighbours whose lives have been touched by SOVA programmes across South-Central Somalia—their words reflect real programme experiences on the ground.
“Before SOVA repaired our shallow well and taught hygiene sessions, my children were often sick from dirty water. Now we fetch safe water close to home and the difference in our daily life is visible.”
Fadumo Ali
Mother of five · Lower Shabelle
“When my youngest became severely malnourished, the outreach team found us early and linked us to treatment and follow-up. Today he is playing again—I am grateful someone walked with our family through that fear.”
Hassan Abdullahi
Father · Gedo Region
“Our daughter returned to class after SOVA supported learning materials and worked with community elders on attendance. Seeing her read at home reminds me why staying in school matters even after hardship.”
Khadija Osman
Parent · Banadir Region
“After we fled drought, emergency shelter and household items restored a little dignity while we settled. The team listened to our priorities instead of deciding everything for us—that respect stayed with me.”
