Nutrition Program Officer

Overview

Somali Vulnerable Actors (SOVA) is seeking a Nutrition Program Officer to support community-based maternal and child nutrition programming in Banadir and surrounding operational areas.

You will work with field teams, community facilitators, and partners to deliver IYCF promotion, maternal nutrition sessions, and practical cooking demonstrations that help families adopt healthier feeding practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Support planning and implementation of nutrition activities in assigned communities
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate IYCF and maternal nutrition training sessions
  • Coordinate community cooking demonstrations and follow-up visits
  • Prepare activity reports, attendance records, and monitoring data
  • Work with WASH, health, and protection colleagues on integrated programming
  • Represent SOVA professionally with community leaders, partners, and local authorities
  • Uphold SOVA’s code of conduct and safeguarding standards

Requirements

  • Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 2 years of experience in nutrition, health, or community programming in Somalia
  • Strong knowledge of maternal and child nutrition, including IYCF
  • Excellent communication in Somali; working knowledge of English preferred
  • Ability to work in field conditions and travel to project locations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
